We are very excited to have got our hands on this delightful and sought-after Darjeeling tea!
After having tried many different teas from the estates of Darjeeling, this one had to be the favourite!
It’s referred to as champagne of teas because of its crisp muscatel or wine-like flavour; it is light and refreshing with unique hints of peach.
So, where does it come from?
Think, a self-contained paradise of natural beauty. Think majestic peaks of Mount Kanchenjunga ascending over slopes of emerald and lime green tea bushes, absorbing the essence of the Himalayas…Well...this is Glenburn, Darjeeling, India.
This tea is also from the first flush, or first harvest, which is usually around mid-March to early April.
The limited availability of this harvest, means we only have a small quantity to offer. So if I were you, I wouldn’t wait too long.
What makes it so special?
In the peace and tranquillity of Glenburn, it is not only the tea plants but also the community that flourishes. The estate was started by a Scottish Tea Company in 1859, but now belongs to one of India’s pioneering tea planting families – the Prakashes. The estate is home to 700 incredibly skilled worker families who pick and process the tea in harmony with the environment using excellent agricultural practices including organic and biodynamic field methods.
And since we buy direct you can be sure this is an authentic and fresh Darjeeling tea.
Supporting workers and communities!
The great thing about this tea is the support it brings to the farm and community in Glenburn who go beyond the standards of the Plantation Labour Act. They set up the Glenburn Workers’ Welfare Trust to improve education and medical services, as well as promote cultural activities amongst the local community.
